Overview

No other city in Canada has such a wonderful array of parks within its metropolitan area. For this we have to thank public-spirited colonial governors such as Sir James Douglas who gave us Mt. Doug and Beacon Hill Park, and altruistic benefactors such as John Dean who bequeathed their estate to the municipality on condition that it remain a park.
According to your whim, you can walk all the way along the coast from the inner harbour to Oak Bay, or take an urban walk to look at heritage houses, or lose yourself in old growth forest on the Saanich Peninsular.
These are some of my favourite walks. I'll add to them from time to time.
